The American Association of Physicists in Medicine has announced a symposium on the Promises and Perils of Proton Radiotherapy to be held in Baltimore to be held on 8 and 9 May 2009 - a must for UK decision makers. Follow link for flyer or go directly to the AAPM website.

Democratic U.S. Rep. Bill Foster and Northern Illinois University President John Peters announced $6 million in funding today for cancer treatment and research and proton and neutron therapy.
The proton therapy program at the Northern Illinois Proton Treatment and Research Center will receive $4.8 million, while the Institute for Neutron Therapy, which is managed by NIU in cooperation with the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory and Nuclear Oncology Medical Care, will receive $1.2 million, Foster spokesman Dan McDonald said.
The Northern Illinois Proton Treatment and Research Center is under construction and scheduled to open in 2010. The Institute for Neutron Therapy is one of two such facilities in the nation.
